Foreign Seasons (Tumi), oil on canvas, 40″ x 30,” 2024.
Creators Gonna Create (Bria), oil on canvas, 30″ x 20,” 2023 (SOLD).
“This is me at the beginning of the pandemic attempting to tap in to my creativity after what we knew as "normal" began to shift. I remember feeling pride and peace during this makeshift photoshoot because all I needed was a sheet, sunlight, and my creativity. As a Black creative, so much of my happiness comes from creating and finding beauty in my authenticity. I continually impress myself with my ability to push myself out of my comfort zone and continue to make space in this industry for myself and those that look like me.”
Resilience Personified (Robin), oil on canvas, 36″ x 48,” 2023 (SOLD).
“Blackness is the origin of everything cool.
It is resilience personified.
Blackness is beauty in every shade. I express my Blackness first in my aesthetic.
I want you to know when you see me.
From my hair to my ensembles I enjoy bringing different elements of Black culture into my look.
I focus on black skin with my skincare atelier.
Sunday Masque, and made it a point to study black skincare independently-something traditional skincare education doesn't emphasize.”
Resisting, Beautifully (Jeneé), oil on canvas, 14″ x 11,” 2022 (SOLD).
“Black Joy is our resistance. Measure us not by our suffering, do not define us by our extremes. See our humanity. Black Joy is our birthright. Love, happiness, doing life? We live. We are more than dead bodies and injustice. Despite the ways in which we have been hurt, we do life - we do joy. We protect those pockets of sunshine that we see in one another. We are light. The I in you, the You in me, the Us in we. We are Black. We are joy.”
Mountain Top Views and Valley Walks (Dominic), oil on canvas, 30″ x 24,” 2023 (SOLD).
“Somewhere between holiness and hot boy summer. Oscillating between mountain top views and valley walks. This black joy is finding balance between reality and my truth, the already but not yet.”
Selah (Tymarcus), oil on canvas, 30″ x 40,” 2023 (SOLD).
“This black joy is done rewriting narratives that were never worth their ink. My story has a better Author. Roasting coffee slows me down enough to discern the difference. There I’m content with the noble limits of my humanity, knowing I’m loved by the One who speaks a better word.”
